They prefer ambush tactics, using short range bolt cannons and terrain to their advantage. Some are deeply religious, worshiping the sea and it's creatures as deities. They survive by building their cities on volcanic vents and scavenging the seafloor. Finally, the Dwellers inhabit the deepest areas, all the way down to the Abyssal Plain. They prefer torpedos and many of their subs are decedents of real Old World submarine designs. They see themselves as the rightful rulers of this underwater world and think trying to return to the surface is a fools errand. They live at the old surface level and their massive fleets defend huge domed Old World cities hastily converted when the flood came. The Royals are the military powerhouse of Diluvion. They prefer the hi-tech railgun, but their subs are fairly fragile and need to stay at long range to be most effective. Some Icers want to drill a path through the ice and return humanity to it's rightful place on the surface. Their librarians catalog and study Old World Relics in an attempt to return humanity to it's former glory. They are generally the are the most forward thinking faction.

The Icers make their homes at the most shallow depths, often anchoring them in the ice ceiling. Avoiding spoilers, I'll briefly describe them. There are three factions at odds with each other over both resources and ideology. Above all Diluvion is a world of myths and legends and you rarely ever get the whole truth. It's been so long, that there are no living witnesses to this event. Why and how the world flooded and then froze is a subject of much debate amongst the inhabitants of Diluvion.

Rare weapon load-outs include weapons with special attributes such as anti-personnel or corrosive munitions.ĭiluvion takes place in the far future on earth after a great catastrophe and flood. Weapon load-outs can be swapped and purchased at outposts. Adding yet another layer of customization is your ship's weapon load-out. For example, adding more crew to your sonar station might increase your sonar's range or decrease detection chance by enemy subs. They function as a set resource that you can replenish in towns and allocate to various ship systems. In addition to officers, you also have your lowly crewman. For example, your Gunner officer determines your weapons' range, reload rate, and can even be ordered to engage targets at will, freeing you up for other tasks such as dodging enemy fire. While you control a sub, much like you'd control a spaceship in a space sim, your officers play a big role in how your sub functions and in some cases can act autonomously. However, there are a few key differences. Other games in this classic genre include Freelancer (a big inspiration for us), Wing Commander, and more recently games like Star Citizen and No Man's Sky. The game-play resembles a space combat and trade simulation game. Diluvion is a fully 3D open world submarine exploration & combat game with crew and character interactions displayed in intricately painted 2D cutaways.
